Drop tuning
Definition
A tuning in which the lowest string is dropped a whole step below the remaining strings’ standard intervals (e.g., Drop D: DADGBE).
Why it matters
It simplifies heavy low riffs and changes string tension. Gauge and setup must follow.

Drop D, Drop C, Drop B; seven-string drop A.
